Argentina Garlic Processing Project

In Mendoza, Argentina, garlic is more than a crop—it is a source of income and a tradition passed down through generations. The region is famous for its purple garlic (Morado), which is highly valued in international markets for its excellent quality and off-season supply. However, premium garlic alone is not enough. Efficient processing is essential to create high-value products and remain competitive.

A Visit That Built Confidence

The company's management had been searching for more than just an equipment supplier. They wanted a partner who truly understood garlic processing and could provide long-term support.

The turning point came during an industry visit. Through a friend's recommendation, they visited AG Company, one of Argentina's leading garlic processors and a GELGOOG customer for the past four years.

During the tour, they saw a modern production line operating smoothly. The equipment was highly automated, the workshop was clean and organized, and operators worked efficiently.

"This line has been running for four years and is still performing very well," said AG's manager.

That simple statement carried more weight than any sales presentation. The visitors learned about GELGOOG's complete support process, from project planning and equipment installation to after-sales service and spare parts supply. Most importantly, GELGOOG remained responsive whenever assistance was needed.

Customized Solutions for Real Needs

After the contract was signed, GELGOOG's engineering team carefully studied the client's requirements, including garlic characteristics, factory layout, market standards, and production goals.

Based on this analysis, GELGOOG designed a customized garlic processing solution. The system was upgraded from the successful project delivered four years earlier.

The optimized peeling and clove separation system reduced garlic damage while improving efficiency. A new color sorting system accurately removed discolored cloves. Impurity removal equipment ensured cleaner raw materials, while peel collection improved workshop hygiene. Overall automation and sanitation standards were significantly enhanced.

Turning Waste into Value

A key objective of the project was reducing waste.

Post-harvest losses have long been a challenge for garlic processors in Argentina. GELGOOG addressed this issue through a graded utilization strategy.

High-quality cloves are packed as fresh garlic products. Lower-grade but usable cloves are processed into dried garlic slices or fried garlic products. Damaged cloves are further processed into garlic powder or garlic paste.

With three parallel production lines, the company can now serve multiple market segments while maximizing raw material utilization.

"Before, damaged cloves were simply thrown away. Now they become profitable products," the client said.

Packaging Creates Added Value

GELGOOG's solution extends beyond processing equipment.

Customized packaging solutions were designed for fresh garlic, garlic slices, garlic powder, and garlic paste. These packaging systems help extend shelf life and increase product value.

Fresh garlic for export meets U.S. and European market requirements, while retail packaging combines attractive appearance with product protection. This attention to detail reflects GELGOOG's commitment to helping customers succeed, not just supplying machinery.

Trust Built Through Long-Term Support

Over the past three years, GELGOOG engineers have visited Argentina many times, gaining valuable knowledge of local garlic varieties, production conditions, and operating practices.

This localized experience improves communication and ensures smooth installation, commissioning, and operator training.

"Before choosing GELGOOG, we evaluated several suppliers," the client explained. "But seeing AG's line running successfully after four years made our decision easy."

What began with a recommendation from AG Company has now become a new partnership. Today, GELGOOG's garlic peeling processing  line solutions serve nearly one hundred enterprises in major garlic-producing regions around the world, helping the industry move toward smarter and higher-value processing.
